Born August 26, 2008 at 10:42 p.m.
7 lbs. 11 oz. and 20 3/4 inches long
One hour old. Poor little guy had his first shiner from the forceps. Labor was 'quick' at 4 hours. One minute I'm pealing potatoes, the next we're driving to the hospital with constant contractions. Delivery was almost as smooth up until the last minutes. Grady decided to come sunny-side up and right near the end of pushing,
we lost his heartbeat. It suddenly became a whole other experience. I can't even explain what it was like when he cried for the first time. The doctor said the next day it most likely was a mechanical error and that his heart did not stop, but I was grateful for the doctor's quick actions and for Matt, who was nothing less than incredible through the entire labor and delivery.
Day 2. "Look at that Hair!" That's what everyone says when they see him.
The nurses were so wonderful during our hospital stay. They treated us like we were the only family there. I enjoyed those days learning the essentials of caring for this sweet little guy. Matt insisted on changing all the diapers. I told you he was incredible!

Grady had lots of visitors in the hospital and at home this first week. Thank you to everyone for so many kind wishes and all of your support.
It's like Sailor grew up when we brought Grady home. He is so into our new addition. He follows anyone who is holding Grady and walks gently by your side. He runs when he hears a cry and sits and stares at the baby. He's been gentle, and responsive when we want him out of the way, too.
Here he is sleeping like a baby...and I know I'm supposed to sleep when he sleeps, but I haven't been so good at it. It's 1:30 a.m. here and I just put him down (again) but I just had to finally squeeze this post in. (we got high-speed internet today -YAY- so it was easy to get this done now - have been eagerly wanting to share since day 1. )
