She scheduled me an ultrasound for today, which I just came back from, and indeed I am a little further along than we thought, with one healthy baby boy! According to the U/S, my new target date is more like September 8. So, just over a week ahead of schedule, but the doctor said I'm measuring more like 2 weeks ahead.
I was up all night long tossing and turning, thinking, "Is everything OK? Could Grandma have been right - are there really two? How cool would that be? How scary would that be? What if I'm way ahead and I have to leave work even earlier than I'm prepared for? Why is it so hot in here? Oh, I have to pee again." It was a long night.
I am so happy that our little boy is healthy and on-target for growth. I was surprised to hear that he only weighs about 1 lb. 7 oz. considering I've put on almost 20 pounds!
I was thrilled to be having an ultrasound again. Poor Matt...we thought he was going to be out of town, so I just figured I'd be going alone. Then this morning he stayed home, but I thought maybe he wasn't interested in going because he didn't say anything. Now, he tells me he thought I was going later and wishes he had been there. I know he would have loved to see his boy moving around again, and I would have loved to have had him there. I did grab Renee and she came over with me. She was so excited.
The U/S technician was really into taking pictures and she even brought out the 3D machine, though she said she wasn't supposed to. I didn't complain...I really wanted to get a good glimpse. WOW! It was amazing. He is so cute! She printed 30 pictures! Geesh, I thought, "should I be getting out my checkbook?"
She explained that the features may be a little skewed as it is early for a 3D image, but I think he took a fine picture!

He has hair! And, I swear it's Matt's forehead.
He was chomping his lips like a little old man with his fake teeth out. There's a lot less room in there since the first U/S, so his movements didn't seem quite as acrobatic as the first time we saw him, but he was sure waving his arms and hands around a lot and kicking his legs in and out.
Funny, as I look at the picture now, it looks like he's holding a ball or something. How'd that get in there? Actually, it's just part of the placenta.
I'm so in love.

Yahoo, for moving the date up....but yikes, for that scare! I know how you feel, all the worry...not sure if you should worry, blah, blah, blah! I am so glad everything checked out normal...and lucky you for getting the 3D ultra sound!!
WOW! Cool 3D picture. I didn't know they did that now! Sounds like you already a great start on the baby photo album.
That is such an awesome picture. That has to be really exciting waiting for a little boy.
He's Awesome!!!
Jen, that's so cool! I don't know how I missed this post, and the one with the cute picture of you and Matt! I must really be a slacker.
