Wow! It’s been a while. I was dealing with awful “flu-like” ickiness that started the day I wrote my last post. Just when I thought I was better, I took a turn for the worse last week AND Grady came down with it. He had 5 days of sickness before I noticed he seemed to have an ear infection and sure enough he did, along with lung congestion. So, we treated him with antibiotics and myself too for sinus infection and bronchitis. That helped real fast, but you know what comes along with antibiotics - not pretty. Enough of that boo-hoo-ha.
As timing would have it, my morning sickness kicked in the week before I caught the flu-thingy and lasted 4 weeks, but I seem to be in the clear for now. K-O-W.
It turned into an awful October all around. The sudden loss of my Uncle Leo after his brief fight with cancer was heartbreaking. If you knew my Uncle Leo, you were a lucky person. If you didn’t, let me tell you, he was sincerely the kindest, sweetest man you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. I can’t even go on; I can’t type with the knot in my throat.
The best thing that has happened in the last few weeks is that I heard the baby’s heartbeat! A quick 166 beats per minute. Take your guess. They’re all saying, “It’s a girl.” I’m still not positive, but I do seem to say “she” a lot.
Another thing I hear a lot is, “Well, you’re ‘all there.’” I’m 13 weeks pregnant, but you’d think I was more like 20 – 30? Seriously, I know it’s the second one and all, but come on!
On another positive note, I’m really proud of the new fundraiser I coordinated for Home Health, and the fact that I made it through it in the midst of all that was going on. We raised just under $16,000 with our Blue Jean Ball, which may not seem like a lot to some places, but for us it was a huge first-time event success, especially after years of a failing walk-a-thon.
So, November has never been a favorite month, but I’m glad October is over & out. Bring on the holiday craziness!!
Oh, and Grady stayed home again for Halloween – next year maybe we’ll make some rounds. Thankfully, Dad had come over and carved a jack-o-lantern for him, and Mom visited on Halloween, so he did get to show off his glow-in-the-dark skeleton sweats, at least until he had a blow-out and we had to switch to his batty pj’s!

ugh! I'm so glad to hear everyone is feeling better! We've gone round and round with sickness at our house and I'm just about fed up with it!
