Can I get a motion?

I get a kick out of Town Meeting day. I'm asked by my employer to be there each year in case there is discussion about our request for town allocations (which in 6 years, not a single eye has ever batted, but I go, just in case, and for the entertainment, oh yeah, and to vote and stay informed,) but people are more concerned that the names of delinquent tax payers are no longer listed in the annual report.

Then there was the brief discussion about having the deadline for town taxes pushed to 7 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. on October 27, to which the moderator could only reply, "C'mon have 3 months to get it in."

I looked around the room and noticed that once again, I seemed to be the youngest person there. I saw one guy who was a year ahead of me in school and another a few years ahead, but where are all the younger town-folks? And, today, with primaries, did they even come out to cast a vote?

ya, it really annoys me when people don't get out and vote! People's priorities are a little skewed these days. :) bugs me to no end!!

Hey, I'm young...Jake's young, We vote. Although you are right, people really love to complain about the problems afterward but don't do a lot to have their say initially. I must admit I'm a little envious of the whole town meeting thing. I have this glamorized version of what it should be like, straight out of Gilmore Girls... I really should look into if we even have them here... that would be a real treat!

Yeah - Young Voters! Town Meetings are easy to glamorize, but I really am grateful we do them here. I feel so much more in-the-know about town issues and where my money is going. And, it's nice to see people you don't see much even though you live in the same town.
