Blue Light Special?

I wonder what kinds of deals KMart had in 1976?

I enjoyed a wonderful birthday weekend! Friday evening, we had lasagna and shortcake at Matt's mom's with Chris in town from Alaska. We stuffed ourselves silly and the boys played a little catch with the dogs as "monkeys in the middle."

On Saturday, Armond & Dad came by early and they loaded up the couch for Armond to take to his house. We're playing a lot of "room shuffle" and realized we didn't really need two living rooms! He took the piano last weekend. I'm so glad it is going to a home where it will be played!

I'm a spoiled (but extremely grateful) girl! Armond had mentioned he wanted to sell his '03 Jeep Liberty for what was left on payments and I had been talking to him and Matt about it. We've been considering options to "make-room-for-baby" and the Liberty fit the bill. Well, Dad & Armond asked me to come sit in the Jeep to listen to something, and I knew right off what that would be. When I was 17, Dad bought me a Toyota Tercel and played the Beatles' "They Say It's Your Birthday" on the CD player.

So, when I saw that the Jeep had been cleaned and the radio blasted that same tune, I just cried. Mom & Dad had bought it from Armond and offered it to us as a gift. They had talked it over with Matt before and he could only reply, "The Price is Right!" We made good though, by turning my Ford Ranger over to Dad. So, it's furniture and vehicle shuffle in the family!

I took my new ride and picked mom up from a Deb Tucker quilting workshop and we hit the store for BBQ supplies. We enjoyed some sunshine, but ended up all hanging out in the garage out of the rain when the grill was going. We ended up with a little thunderstorm later in the afternoon. Summer is coming!

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with a few quilting friends. They reserve a conference room at the hospital on Sunday afternoons to take advantage of the tables and space. We all worked on "UFO's" (unfinished projects.) I'm one weekend away from finishing Niki's baby-clothes quilts. The girls are 5 years old and finally, I'll be sending this precious gift back to her! Niki, you're a dear, dear patient friend! Thank you for your birthday wishes, and yes, this will definitely be a birthday to remember...32 and waiting for a baby to bless our family!

Ahh you are lucky! Awesome birthday gifts. The Jeep will be nice when your packing a car seat. Hopefully gas won't be too bad.

I hope you had a great birthday! It certainly sounds like it, congrats on the car...that will be perfect! I love having an SUV because you don't have to bend down when you're loading the car seats. It saves your back! Jake wants to get a 4 door car to save on gas but I just can't part with my beast.

Man I must say I am a little jealous about the new car. I have been trying to talk Josh into in but I'm not sure that he is having it. Oh well, hope you had a great birthday!!
