Today I purchased a share in a Community Supported Agriculture program. from the Noel Farm.
As they explain...“We grow food the way we do because we strongly believe in taking care of ourselves, our family, our customers, our land, and future generations. By purchasing a "share" at the beginning of the season, shareholders provide financial support for a local farm. We then provide a share of the farm's harvest to each member of the CSA for a significant discount. The amount of food each week varies as the harvest varies.”
I'm sharing a weekly pick-up with my boss. My employer has partnered with our local hospital and the farm so that employees may pick up their shares during the day at the hospital, which is just across the street from where I work. So, I can walk over, get some exercise and get a hearty share of produce and fresh cut flowers.
